BioModel4Regions – Innovative management models

Biomodel4regions project logo

BIOMODEL4REGIONS aims to support the establishment of innovative governance models at the local/regional level to create better-informed decision-making processes, social engagement, and innovation in order to support and strengthen the EU and international science-policy interfaces to achieve the goals of sustainable development.

The methodology is based on setting up a governance structure among bioeconomy clusters that will benefit from previously successful projects, initiatives, and best practices, making use of the work carried out through several years of research and studies in the bioeconomy field. These results will be demonstrated within the project to support six pilot regions selected from the clusters’ networks.

The goal of achieving the climate targets outlined in the European Green Deal can only be reached through the commitment of regional and local authorities, primary producers, small and medium-sized enterprises, civil society organizations including NGOs, knowledge providers, and consumers. This will require the development of new governance models with public administration moving beyond traditional working methods to a more holistic, integrated, and stakeholder-driven approach, as well as a shift toward more sustainable consumption.
