Nature Refines

 – Organic residues as raw material for water-cleaning and energy storage devices

Nature Refines project logo

The aim is to contribute to a circular society by finding new ways to recycle residues that today are a cost for companies. We will use organic residues to clean waste. Active carbon will be produced from logging residues, manure, micro- and macroalgae, and straw. To secure circularity we will regenerate the active carbon after it has removed pollutants from wastewater. Moreover, the use of activated carbon in the biogas process and a component in the production of composites will be investigated. Four partners from Sweden and Finland will share knowledge, residues and scientific equipment while closely cooperating with companies.
